I still can not believe that El Gouna is in Egypt 🙂

This city is completely different and every thing you know about Egypt, you can not apply here.

Town El Gouna is situated 25km north of Hurghada and all this resort was build up in the desert. El Gouna sometimes have been called Egyptian Venice, because whole town is connected by an artificially dug lagoons, which are connected to the open sea. This Lagoons are lined with hotels and that is why almost every hotel there have access to the sea.

Whole town is very clean and quiet and even luxury. You can find there everything you can need – shops, banks, shisha bars, bars, disco, cafes. City is divided into two parts: The Downtown and Marina. This city is safe I was walking there just by myself and no one was bothering me, even there are just Egyptians men only, you don’t meet Egyptian women at all.

The Downtown is a beautiful area with lots of shops, restaurants, cafes or shisha bars right on the beach, where you can sit in fatboys around the fire and just enjoy the view with cocktail in your hand.

Marina is luxurious part of El Gouna and is just 5 minutes far away from The Downtown by Tuk Tuk. This is amazing harbour, which I suggest to visit during the evening, because everything shines there at that time, including the luxury yachts. Marina is quite smaller part that The Downtown but there is great disco and bar called Dupont, where you can find awesome pool parties under the sky. When I was there they had great parties every Thursday, but that could changed.

Through El Gouna you can move with mini taxy called Tuk Tuk which at my times costs 1$ per person to everywhere you wanna go. Just stand anywhere next to the road and wait a while, in a minute is some coming.

Accommodation in bungalows Panorama Hotel El Gouna:

So first thing what you need to know, that there is in Hurghada hotel with same name, so don’t do this mistake 😀

This hotel is such a win win, when you compare prices, services, food and how it looks a like. This Hotel is next to the entrance to The Downtown and it takes just 5 minutes walk to get there. Just prepare for one thing, food there is tasty but you get almost all the time the same in the bufee, but it is really tasty and we didn’t get Pharaoh running disease so we survived 😀

Tip: at the check-in, ask for a room in the new part, if they don’t wan to give you one, tell that is not the first time you are there, it helped us a lot and we get a great new room.

Snorkeling with Dolphins:

Everywhere there you can arrange a snorkelling trip with dolphins, you can go with big organized boat with lot of people or I recommend arrange trip with private boat. Trip with private boat takes two hours and you have it just for yourself with your friends. By my time there it cost 20 euro per person, and by that price they take you by speedboat to hunt dolphins and than snorkelling to the reef. What I heard chance to swim with dolphins in nature there is 50:50, I have been twice and I saw dolphins just once. But even tan I recommend this trip so much, because it is such a different experience with wild dolphin than with that poor one in some aquarium. For me it was a lifetime experience.

Tip 2: For sure go to this trip relaxed and in full power, because swim as fast as a dolphin is hellishly unbelievable hard and in that moment every crossfit or gyms or whatever are for nothing because they are just fast and furious 😀

Scuba diving – Frogman in Hurghada

Frogman company was recommended to me by a friend and I can say that it was really great. I am Open Water Diver but my sister does not have much experience and they gave her great briefing, they showed her everything they were all the time underwater checking her, so their service was really great.

We had two dives and they took us to amazing places where we saw stingrays, squid, sea turtles, millions of fish and awesome experience was that we met huuuuge moray eel with head big as mine and she was really frightening.

Paddleboarding:

In Downtown is possible to rent SUPs, they have there like 10 pieces so even bigger groups can go together. El Gouna is paddleboarding paradise, with huge number of channels you can go paddle there every day and you would always find different ways. Just be careful about the wind, because than is not easy to come back but than its great gym 🙂

ATTENTION: between the channel is really easy to lose you way, so be focused and try to remember your way, because it is always possible to go back with same way and it is no shame, there it is like a labyrinth or maze.

Wakeboarding in Sliders Cable park El Gouna:

Just wait for Tuk Tuk and tell him Sliders and they will know where to take you, from our hotel it was like 7 minutes ride, this ride is great El Gouna sightseeing tour. Prepare your self that this cable is in the middle of desert and around is literally nothing. When you arrive there, modern glass building surprises you at the first sight, when you come in there you find very nice staff. They have many possibilities of ticket, with week ticket you don’t need to go riding every day, you can split it, so its really great. Is possible to rent a locker there, just for deposit and they are renting classic beginners equipment for free and advanced equipment for some fee.

Facilities and restaurant are absolutely perfect, nice showers and dressing room. Their cuisine is great because whatever we had it was amazing.

There are two lifts, one big clockwise and second smaller is counter clockwise. Both cables got 5 columns and a lot of obstacles. You can find out there small and big kickers on both sides, long pussy box, fun box, big C, coffin, Elephant and small slider.

Great terms to go there are from April to June and from September to November. Earlier in spring and later in autumn there is lot of wind and much better weather for kiteboarding.

Tip 3: I recommend arrange a Tuk Tuk when you arrive there on direct time. Because on reception they will call a Tuk Tuk for you, but lot of people are doing the same and everybody stop riding at same time and you can stay waiting there even for hour for a Tuk Tuk. Best way is find out one Tuk Tuk and always manage time with him before, they are quite reliable, so they often arrive on time.

Kiteboarding:

There is looooooooots of kite schools and kite beaches, by the recommendation, we tried Red Sea Zone, its one the most famous schools there. Kiting lessons and rental equipment is priced everywhere with almost the same price. If you pay fee on Red Sea Zone they will provide you full service: storage for your stuff, place witch non salty water to clean stuff, compressor pump, trained Egyptians who help you start and land your kite safely and even a boat for emergency things.

On the beach they have a lot of deckchairs hidden behind the screen covers against wind, so after your kite session you have great place where to chillax 🙂

Tip 4: Before you start kiteboarding there buy a wetsuits boots, you can buy them even there on spot, but they are than more expensive. Everywhere there are sharp corals and you can cut yourself easily and after it takes a lot of time to heal.

Last tip: Bargain, bargain and bargain, when Egyptians say price always cut it in half, and if they don’t want that price, just start leaving slowly and than they will come to you and sell it to you even for half price. 🙂
