New season arround the corner so here are some of the key stops for a Game of Thrones locations tour in Malta.
All these amazing stops I visited on my long stay on Malta and every that place is sooooo amazing 🙂
WARNING: Possible spoiler Alert! 🙂
Mdina city:
In season one, producers settled with the fortress city of Mdina in Malta (never mind the fact that it’s miles from the sea). Later they changed it to Dubrovnik in Croatia.
Azure Window on island Gozo:
The Azure Window, a rock arch off the coast of Gozo, is seen during the wedding feast of Daenerys and Drogo in season one. even part of the Free Cities been filmed in Azure Window.
St. Dominik Monastery in Rabat:
Verdala Palace and Buskett gardens in Siggiewi:
In First episode Daenerys was presented to Khal Drogo here.
Verdala Palace is now resedence of Maltese president so it is not possible to visit it, but gardens are really nice, and it is small green part of Malta.
Fort Manoel or Manoel Island:
In season 1 episode 9 was Ned Stark executed here.
Because 80% of this island is closed for public, most of the island you can see from Sliema and Gzira. Best view is when you travel to Valetta by seaside. This island is really specific thing there.
I recommend to travel arround the island in spring or in autumn time. cause in summer time is like in living hell and you would not want to leave the swimming pool or beach 😀
In spring and in autumn time is Malta most beautiful and green, in the summer its all more like sahara and everything is beige 🙂
In winter time is possible to go to, but its little bit rainy and arround 10°, but for sure better than in summer time for sightseeing tour.
